Kerala Agricultural University is the only one agricultural university in the state and is offering Biotechnology programme at UG & PG level. KAU stream of M.Sc. Ag. Biotech (2yrs), Integrated Biotechnology (5yrs) are the other Biotechnology programme in addition to Department of Biotechnology sponsored M.Sc. Biotechnology Programme through JNU Entrance.

 

Instructions

The candidates selected for KAU are requested to report at the Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University, Main Campus, Vellanikkara on 27th July 2009, before 5 pm

 

Location

Kerala Agricultural University main campus is in Thrissur District, 12 km away from Thrissur Town/Railway station/Bus station; in the Thrissur – Palghat route (NH47). You can board private Bus from ‘Sakthan Bus Stand’ or hire auto (@Rs. 100/-), Taxi (@Rs. 200/-)

 

It is around 60 km away from Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery. Bus connections to Thrissur Town and prepaid Taxis are available in the airport. Thrissur in well connected by trains from all parts of India

 

The Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology is located in the KAU main campus at Vellanikkara. Once you enter the main gate of the University; take the first left turn, proceed 250 metres to reach CPBMB in the      IT-BT Complex; the building adjacent to the Ladies Hostel.

The security deposit remitted by you at JNU shall be remitted back to you after the end of first semester.

 

Date of Start

The programme beings on 28th July 2009. There will be a pre semester orientation programme for one month after which regular classes begin. During the orientation programme, experts for personality development and communication skills will counsel you. You will also be trained on various basic techniques in Plant Biotechnology. Visits to various research Institutes in Kerala are also arranged during the session.

 

This orientation programme would help the students to get rid of their homesickness and orient themselves to the academic programme in a befitting manner.
