Cashew nursery of Madakkathara
Station got accreditation from
National Horticulture Board
The National Horticulture Board (NHB) under the Govt. of India has given accreditation to cashew nursery of Cashew Research Station (CRS), Madakkathara under Kerala Agricultural University. According to a communication received from the Managing Director, NHB, the assessment team constituted by Govt. of India for rating and accreditation of horticultural nurseries, has rated the cashew nursery of Cashew Research Station, Madakkathara as one star for a period of two years. This is the first time that a horticulture nursery under the Kerala Agricultural University, Department of Agriculture or private sector in the Kerala state got rating by the National Horticulture Board.
National Horticulture Board has recently started giving recognition of horticulture nurseries which is a system of graded certification of production system. This has been started by the NHB with a view to ensure the availability of quality planting material and to establish a network of quality horticulture nurseries across the country for the purpose of propagation and distribution of quality planting materials of horticulture crops, which is a pre- requisite to the success of horticulture development in our country.
