Best Paper Award
The research paper entitled "Studies on the production and storage potential of
synthetic seeds in Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L. )" by K. Sudhakara, B. N. Nagarajan,
A. V. Santhoshkumar, K. K. Sunil Kumar and N. K. Vijayakumar, College of
Forestry, KAU, Thrissur published in the Seed Research Vol. 28(2): 119-125, 2000
was adjudged as the best paper by the Indian Society of Seed Technology, New
Delhi.

In this connection, a merit certificate and a cash award of Rs. 1000/- to be
shared equally among the authors were presented to Dr. K. Sudhakara during XIIth
National Seed Seminar on "Prosperity through quality seeds" by the renowned
scientist and Borlaugh Award Winner, Padma Shree Dr. M. V. Rao. A memento was
also presented to Dr. K. Sudhakara for presenting this research work at this
Seminar by Dr. Gautam Kalloo, the Deputy Director General of ICAR (Horticulture
and Crop Sciences). The National Seminar was conducted between 24-26 February
2006 by the Indian Society of Seed Technology, New Delhi and Acharya N. G. Ranga
Agricultural University, Hyderabad at ANGRAU, Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad 500 030.
The research papers:
1. Characterization and quantification of phenolic compounds from the extracts
of teak (Tectona grandis Linn. f) fruits by Natalya Krishnambika, Sudhakara, K.
and Augustine,A,
and
2. Variations in the physical characteristics of teak (Tectona grandis Linn.f.)
fruits by Jijeesh, C. M.and Sudhakara, K
were also presented by Dr. K. Sudhakara through poster during this Seminar.
