KERALA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY
Between two faculties (Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering,) seven constituent colleges (three for Agriculture, one each for Agricultural Engineering, Forestry, Cooperation Banking & Management and Climate Change Adaptation & Research) and 31 departments, the University offers graduate and post-graduate programmes at Masters as well as Doctoral levels, in almost all the disciplines and specialties on various subjects related to agriculture.
The undergraduate programmes offered include Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperation & Banking and Agricultural Engineering & Technology.
In 26 disciplines, the University offers seven Post-graduate programmes leading to Masters degree such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agricultural Statistics, Cooperation & Banking, Home Science (Food and Nutrition) and Agricultural Engineering & Technology. The University also offers a 5-year M.Sc. (Integrated) programme in two subjects, viz. Biotechnology and Climate Change Adaptation and an MBA programme in Agri-business Mangement.
Doctoral programmes are offered in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science (Food & Nutrition), and Cooperation & Banking covering 18 disciplines.
The annual admission to various courses are 325 Undergraduates, 150 Masters, 65 Doctorates, 50 M.Sc. (Integrated) and 40 MBA.
On the average, the University has around 2000 students on its rolls of which girl students constitute nearly 75%.
The University has been providing such high quality professional education that in the year 2003-04 the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) adjudged the Kerala Agricultural University as the best Agricultural University in the country and awarded the prestigious "Sardar Patel Outstanding Institution Award". The University won the performance award of the ICAR continuously for 5 years during 2006, 2007, 2008 2009 and 2010 for students academic performance.
The Kerala Agricultural University has been instrumental in providing the intellectual foundation and training in scientific experimentation through its graduates and post graduate programmes. Many of its alumni are internationally known professionals and scientists in agriculture and related fields.
