The
major extension role of the University is to provide technical support and consultative
service to Government Departments engaged in agricultural development and to
farmers in special cases. The extension education programmes of the University
are planned, organised and conducted by the Directorate of Extension at the
University level. The Communication Centre, the Central Training Institute,
the KAU Press and the Information-cum-Sales Centre are the major constituent
units of the Directorate. Besides these units, extension educa-tion programmes
are also implemented through the research stations and educational institutions
under K.A.U.
The Transfer of Technology Programmes are implemented through the Krishi Vigyan
Kendras (KVK) and the Village Adoption Programme. The Krishi Vigyan Kendras
at Ambalavayal, Pattambi and Sadanandapuram are sponsored by the ICAR. The KVK
at Manjeswaram is financed by the University.
