Ig Nobel Prize to KAU

Dr. K.P. Sreekumar, Associate Professor, Dept. of Physiology, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, was awarded this year's "Ig Nobel Prize" at the Sanders Theatre, Harvard University, USA, in a gala ceremony held on 3rd Oct 2002.

The award is for the paper entitled "Estimation of the body surface area of Indian elephants (Elephas maximus indicus), authored by Dr. Sreekumar and the late Prof. G. Nirmalan. This was published in the year 1990 in the reputed journal Veterinary Research Communications, Vol 14, pages 5-17, Netherlands. Annals of Improbable Research of Harvard University, Harvard-Radcliff Science Association, Harvard-Radcliff Society of Physics Students and Harvard Computer Society are the sponsors of this award. He is the first Malayalee and the second Indian to bag the same.
