NSS Special Camp
A special 10 days camp was organised by the National Service Scheme Unit of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy at Eranalloor, Choondal Grama Panchayat, Thrissur District from May 15 - 24, 2003. The objective of the camp was to inculcate the spirit of social responsibility and environmental cleanliness among the volunteers. The programme
was inaugurated by Sri. T.V. Chandramohan, MLA. In the inaugural address he recollected the contributions made by the NSS volunteers during the last years Integrated Animal Husbandry activities which was organised under the decentralised planning project of the Panchayat.

During the camp, 180 volunteers conducted animal health camps in all the wards, organised health awareness classes and took practical steps in mosquito control programme. Drinking water purification activities, shramadhan in laying medicinal plants garden in Krishi Bhavan campus, a Balotsavam for local children etc. were the other activities undertaken by the volunteers.

In the animal health camps, the animals were vaccinated against FMD, Rabies and Ranikhet diseases. The valedictory function was attended by Dr. K. V. Peter, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. A. I. Jose, Director of Extension, Dr. E. Nanu, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy and peoples representatives from the Panchayat.
