An NPK schedule of 50:50:150 g/plant/year for pepper vines is recommended after extensive trials. Apply fertilizers in a circle of radius 30 cm around the vine in the case of plants trailed on Erythrina or teak pole (dead standard)
Pepper plants if irrigated with 100 l of water once in 8-10 days during summer months (December-May), give about 50 per cent more yield than unirrigated ones.
Neem cake is good for pepper. Apply one kg lime and two kg neemcake/ vine/ year as pre-monsoon dose. The application of neemcake should be four weeks after lime application.
A technique for rapid multiplication of pepper was perfected .A technique for growing pepper as a bush plant was also developed.
For control of pollu beetle of pepper, Endosulfan, Dimethoate, Quinalphos or Monocrotophos all at 0.05% concentration is recommended at the time of spike emergence.
